Prevention is better than cure

The life itself is a great challenge, however, in the times of live in, it has been become even far greater challenge for every one of us. One of such challenges is the increasing usage of illicit drugs, addiction and the easy availability and cheap price of drugs. To address this ever increasing problem, to highlight its harms, to raise awareness and to educate the general public, the United Nations observes 26 June as the international day against drug abuse to streamline cooperation between different stake holders to achieve the goal of a world free of drug abuse.

In this issue of “Id-Dawl” we will be discussing this issue according to Islamic perspective to provide our readers some food for thought and how we can prevent our social fabric to fall into the trap of usage of illicit drugs.

Undoubtedly, ‘prevention is better than cure’. So, we must educate ourselves, our children, our communities and our nation about the destruction such drugs cause to human health, family and social bonding. Such addiction literally destroys individuals, families and their loved ones. Therefore, we must role our sleeves and leave no stone unturned to defeat this destructive poison that is rapidly infiltrating within our societies.
