How can we strengthen our families?

The subject of family is not only important but has become crucial in the contemporary times, the situation of family has worsened in many countries, and there are serious concerns about it, and it seems that there is a complete breakdown of the family structure, relatively the situation in Malta is better comparing to other western societies, however, we are not immune to this social fragmentation.

Therefore, it is ‘the call of the hour’, that we learn the modes, means and ways to strengthen our families and put them into practice very strictly. The fact is that the strong and healthy families are the backbone of a society, and a strong society is the backbone of a vibrant nation, and indeed, vibrant nations are the backbone of a peaceful and prosperous world. Islam has given great importance to this subject and deals it with profound significance; and has set golden rules to make our homes an abode of peace, love and affection.

Two aspects of good parenting

Islam discusses the subject of happy parenting with two different aspects; firstly, how to become good husband and wife, and good parents and secondly, how to give proper upbringing to the children. Islam looks upon these both aspects in a very realistic, profound and spiritual manner. The verses that are recited at the time of announcement of an Islamic marriage ceremony, in a nutshell, shed abundant light on both of these aspects. Almighty God says in the Holy Quran:

O ye who believe; Fear your Lord, and say the complete truth. (If you do so, in return) He will reform your conduct and forgive your sins. And whoso obeys God and His Messenger shall surely attain a mighty success… O ye who believe, be mindful of your duty to Allah, and let everyone look to that which they send forth for tomorrow.

These verses draw our attention towards self reformation, attaining the highest moral and spiritual standards, setting valuable examples and being closer to the Creator, because that will pave the way to ‘attain a mighty success’, meaning a successful and happy family life.

Pious and righteous progeny

The words ‘let everyone look to that which they send forth for tomorrow’, clearly draw our attention towards a proper and worthy upbringing of the future generation: to raise them piously, to raise them with the highest morals, to raise them with a firm resolve in their faith, to raise them as loyal citizens and to make them excel in every aspect of life. This will not only adorn their lives in this world and their lives in the hereafter and earn the pleasure of God Almighty, but it will also make us deserving of reward owing to the good upbringing we provided them. The Holy Quran also teaches us a prayer: “Our Lord make my seed righteous for me” (46:16). How rightly it is said that: ‘you reap what you sow’.

The essence and significance of the above is that, if we really want to prosper, live better, peaceful and satisfied lives, and moreover, if we want our coming generations to be morally, ethically, spiritually, academically, financially and socially strong and immune from the social harms, then we must build strong, vibrant and healthy families.

The Question is: How to make our families stronger and happier for better parenting and proper upbringing of future generations? What are the means and remedies one can apply to achieve this paramount objective?

In this brief time available, I would like to underline some basic and key principles that if adhered to sincerely and faithfully, the above objective of an utmost value will become smooth; and I am certain that, it will be truly helpful to give a valuable meaning to our dreams of making our homes an abode of peace, love, respect and compassion.

First and foremost important point is regular prayers and to have close relationship with the Almighty God. Both husband and wife should always strive to abide by righteousness, and pray for the relationship to grow stronger and have regard for the respective relatives. When couples establish a relationship with God, their every action will be blessed and rewarded, as the Holy Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, once said that: “a man who puts a morsel, a piece of food into his wife’s mouth with a desire to earn merit in the sight of God, does a noble deed and it will bring its reward.”

Second: Husband and wife as life partners have great responsibilities and obligations. Both of them must have a great concern and feelings of love and compassion for each other. Their sentiments and emotions must reflect love and sympathy for each other. The Holy Quran has given an excellent example of husband and wife in the following verse, “Wives are a garment for their husbands, and husbands are a garment for their wives.” (2:188)

Meaning that, both should protect each other, both should become a means of care and affection for each other, and both should cover the weaknesses and shortcomings of each other; and they become as one, as the Holy Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said: ‘You will find believers as one body as regards their shared lifestyle, love and affection. When any one limb or part of the body is not well, the rest of the body suffers with sleeplessness and fever.’

Therefore, both the husband and wife should always look on the positive aspects of each other, instead of each other’s shortcomings. In this regard, we have been instructed by the Founder of Islam, that if you see a flaw in the other or dislike a habit of theirs, there would be many things about them that you may like and admire. These favourable aspects should be kept in view to selflessly create a harmonious air and environment of conciliation.

Third: It is also of a paramount importance that the husband and wife always spare time for each other, where they can freely and respectfully talk to each other. If anything crops up, both husband and wife should clear it up immediately by talking to each other lovingly and affectionately.

Fourth: “Adorn yours and your children’s future in this world and in the hereafter.” These are the beautiful words of the Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community as a guiding principle for the parents; and when husband and wife have adorned themselves properly then they would become wonderful role models for their children.

Fifth: To make the family life healthy, prosperous and to add in it the sweet-flavour of happiness it is highly recommended that the parents must spend their valuable and quality time with their children and establish effective communication between all family members. In addition, children should be provided serene and understandable open platform to discuss their matters freely with their parents. Home environment should always demonstrate the core values of faithfulness, kindness, unconditional love and respect.

I would like to conclude with the words of the Founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community who has explained this subject in a nutshell and says: “Become pious and righteous yourselves and become an example of piety and righteousness for your children.” May God Almighty enable everyone to live in a way that their actions become a source of God’s pleasure and they inherit paradise in both worlds. Ameen.

Truthfulness

“O ye who believe! Fear Allah and be with the truthful.” (9:119)

“And confound not truth with falsehood nor hide the truth, knowingly.” (2:43)

“O ye who believe! fear Allah, and say the right word. He will bless your works for you and forgive you your sins.” (33:71-72)

___________ Sayings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa) ___________

“When you speak, do not lie. When you promise, do not break it. When you are trusted, do not betray it.” (Al-Mu’jam al-Kabir)

“Leave alone that which involves thee in doubt and adhere to that which is free from doubt, for truth is comforting, falsehood is disturbing.” (Tirmidhi)

“Truthfulness leads to virtue, and virtue leads to Paradise. A man continues to be truthful and strives for truthfulness until he is written as a truthful person with God. And beware of falsehood, for indeed falsehood leads to sinning, and indeed sinning leads to the Fire. A man continues to tell lies and strives upon falsehood until he is written as a liar with God.” (Muslim)

The Holy Prophet Muhammadsa had very high standards of truthfulness. He regarded truth as the basis of all virtue, goodness, and right conduct.

It is narrated that, there was a man who did many bad things. He went to the Holy Prophet Muhammadsa and asked, “How can I stop doing bad things?” The Holy Prophet Muhammadsa answered, “Always be truthful.” A few days later, the man was going to comit an immoral or sinful act, but he thought, “What if the Holy Prophet Muhammadsa asks me about it? I can’t lie.” So he didn’t do the immoral or sinful act. The next day, he was going to steal something, but he thought, “What if the Holy Prophet Muhammadsa asks me if I stole anything? I can’t lie.” So he didn’t steal it. Slowly the man stopped doing all of his bad things just by having to tell the truth.

That’s how important telling the truth is. Therefore, we should never tell a lie because Allah does not like people who tell lies and will not help us if we do. Allah helps and likes people who tell the truth.

Six years of success

Six years ago we have conceived an idea of printing a monthly magazine to address different concerns and questions that many people have in their minds; and also to address the current national and international issues. Id-Dawl magazine is our brain child and one of its core objectives is to provide our readers a different, educated, well researched and thought provoking content.

It has been a journey of six year since we had the pleasure and blessing to print the first edition of Id-Dawl magazine in January 2018. By the grace of Almighty Allah, together with the content, we have also worked hard to make this magazine very attractive, presentable and of high quality. We have also been presenting to our readers content on different topics in a high standard Maltese language.

Now, with the start of its 7th year, we are starting two new columns for our readers. One will be dedicated to discuss one basic moral quality and this series of moral values will continue in the upcoming editions; and secondly, we are starting a Q&A column, where we will be replying to questions that we receive time-to-time from our readers. Please do write to us, if you have any question, or anything you would like to know or read in Id-Dawl; moreover, your feedback is truly helpful for further improvement. In this edition of Id-Dawl we are discussing one very basic and core moral quality of ‘truthfulness’ and we will also be addressing the subject of suffering in the world, a question many people ask, and more particularly the youth.

Is disability the result of sin?

“He who follows the right way follows it only for the good of his own soul: and he who goes astray, goes astray only to his own loss. And no bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another.” (17:16) “And no soul acts but only against itself; nor does any bearer of burden bear the burden of another.” (6:165)

Both these verses of the Holy Quran shed sufficient light when we discuss the subject of ‘religion, disability and suffering’. Both these verses categorically reject the notion that any illnesses or disabilities in babies born are due to the sin or burden of any other soul. This notion has nothing to do with religion and Islam also in clearest terms rejects this ideology or stigmatisation.

The above mentioned verses purport to say that every man shall have to carry his own cross and bear his own burden; and that man himself has to face the consequences of his actions.

What is Sin?

Before, going further, let us discuss: What is Sin? Sin is an activity which renders the human soul spiritually sick and incapable of truly viewing the face of God or gaining his nearness.  When the soul moves towards the purpose of its creation, challenges must be encountered through this undertaking. Activities which amount to sin are either physical, whose dangers are visible to oneself as well as to others, or are spiritual.

According to Islam, “Every child is born true to nature.” The children who have not yet reached an age of understanding remain innocent and are not liable to any punishment, nor can their misbehaviour or any wrongdoing on their part be called a sin. For example, if a young child steals a bar of chocolate, he will not be charged with theft and will be considered innocent due to his understanding not having matured enough to make the distinction between right and wrong or virtue and sin, or what is legal and illegal. Furthermore, if God forbid, that child dies at an early age, he will go to heaven as according to Islam, a child that dies before their understanding of sin and virtue, their every deed will qualify as being innocent.

So, how does Islam see the situation of someone who was born with any particular condition?

First of all we must acknowledge that the blessings God has bestowed upon us are innumerable and that our knowledge is incomplete in comparison to God, therefore, we are unable to fully comprehend the wisdom of every action of God the Almighty.

Secondly, if there wasn’t any suffering, how would we have understood what happiness and contentment is? Suffering was crucial for humans to evolve into conscious beings and in understanding happiness. Another aspect of the existence of suffering is that human beings learnt the lesson of benevolence as well as the values of humanity through it. Had there not been any suffering, how would we have learned the values of gratefulness, kindness, and empathy?

Now, imagine a world where terrible diseases do not exist and that all humans are equal. This would again mean that life comes to a complete halt and there would be no need for human progress. The burning inner desire of every human in striving to bring about improvements within themselves and their conditions is undoubtedly the result of coexistence of suffering and happiness.

A driving force for scientific investigation

Furthermore, there are many secrets of human progress hidden in the divine decree of Allah the Exalted. Suffering becomes a driving force for scientific investigation, discovery, and progress for mankind. Very recently, we have witnessed with our very eyes and experiences how the Covid-19 pandemic drove humanity to a complete standstill and there was unspeakable suffering all over the world. It moved humans towards an unprecedented struggle to get rid of human suffering and discomfort. This hardship and affliction led to the invention of vaccinations that have provided cure, health, and comfort to mankind along with better ways of thinking and working.

Factually speaking, many defects that exist are due to genetic disorder or human negligence but the important thing to note is, it still has nothing to do with the sin. For instance, medical science has proven that certain weaknesses of parents affect their children. If full care is not taken during pregnancy, it can sometimes have a detrimental effect on the health of the unborn child. Mothers who are dieting sometimes have weak babies.

Similarly, if a mother uses illicit drugs during her pregnancy, naturally it will also have negative effects on the child. This is why doctors advise women to avoid alcohol consumption, smoking and sugary drinks during their pregnancy and should instead eat healthy and adopt a healthy lifestyle for the sake of their child’s health and their own. It is therefore a law of nature that children inherit both good and bad aspects from their parents, they take good health and genetics from them as well as illnesses. If they did not inherit diseases or ailments from their parents, they would also not inherit the good things.

True inheritors of Allah’s unlimited reward

I would like to conclude with a quotation of the Head of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmadaba, from his Friday Sermon delivered on 2nd October 2015; he says:

“Those who persevere through hardships and remain patient are the true inheritors of Allah’s unlimited and incalculable reward. Therefore, it is necessary for a believer to understand the meaning of patience. Patience does not mean that a person should not feel sorry for any loss, but rather that one should not let any loss or pain overwhelm them to the point of losing their senses, becoming hopeless, and not utilising their practical abilities. So, to some extent, it is okay to allow ourselves to feel regret or sadness, but it is important to channel those emotions into positive actions even more than before and move forward with renewed determination to achieve even higher goals.”

Social justice conference in parliament

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Malta participated in a conference organized at the Parliament of Malta on the theme of ‘Social Justice’ on Thursday 22 February 2024. Imam Laiq Ahmed Atif, president of Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya Malta, was one of the speakers of this conference. In his speech, he presented a five-point action plan as a way forward in the local context with reference to Social Justice. This highly important conference was also addressed by the Hon. Speaker of the House of Representative, Hon. Minister for Social Justice and Solidarity, the Family and Children’s Rights, Hon. Leader of the Opposition, other Members of the Parliament and other distinguished speakers from different backgrounds.

Huwa dmir nazzjonali tagħna u wieħed mid-drittijiet tat-toroq, li dejjem inżommu t-toroq nodfa; u wieħed għandu jevita li jarmi l-loqom tas-sigaretti, il-biljetti tal-karozzi tal-linja, irċevuti, ippakkjar tal-ikel u fliexken fit-toroq.

Il-Qaddis Profeta Muħammad, is-sliem għalih, qal: “Ħadd minnkom ma jemmen, jekk ma jixtieqx lil ħuh dak li jixtieq lilu nnifsu.”

Huwa kompla qal: “Kun ġust, u tkun l-aħjar fost dawk li jqimu. Kun kuntent b’li għandek, u b’hekk tkun l-aħjar fost dawk li jiżżu ħajr. Ara li tixtieq għal ħaddieħor dak li tixtieq għalik innifsek, u b’hekk tkun tassew temmen. Ġib ruħek tajjeb ma’ ġarek, u b’hekk tkun tassew fidil. Naqqas id-daħq, għaliex ħafna daħq joqtol lill-qalb.”

Qed niddiskutu d-drittijiet tat-toroq, għalhekk għandna dejjem inġibu ruħna tajjeb ma’ kulħadd meta nkunu fit-triq; dejjem nibqgħu konxji dwar dak li ngħidu u nagħmlu; u nixtiequ lil ħutna dak li nixtiequ għalina nfusna, jiġifieri, paċi, sliem, sigurtà u serħan.

L-Indafa tat-toroq

Huwa dmir nazzjonali tagħna u wieħed mid-drittijiet tat-toroq, li dejjem inżommu t-toroq nodfa; u wieħed għandu jevita li jarmi l-loqom tas-sigaretti, il-biljetti tal-karozzi tal-linja, irċevuti, ippakkjar tal-ikel u fliexken fit-toroq. Iż-żibel m’għandux jintrema fuq il-bankini jew fit-toroq; iżda għandu jitqiegħed barra fil-jiem preskritti bil-mod ġentili biex jiġi evitat kwalunkwe inkonvenjent għal ħaddieħor.

It-tfigħ ta’ oġġetti fuq il-bankini jew fit-toroq li jistgħu joħolqu l-periklu bħal ġebel, qxur, xewk, għadam jew injam, għandu jiġi evitat kompletament, u minflok, jekk naraw xi ħaġa ta’ ostaklu fit-triq, għandha titneħħa mill-ewwel, u ma nistennewx lil ħaddieħor. Għax dan huwa wkoll id-dritt tat-triq li tiġbor affarijiet perikolużi mit-toroq jew bankini.

Jekk tara xi ħaġa bħal qxur tal-banana, ġebel, stikek, friegħi jew xi ħaġa li tista’ tikkawża ħsara, tistenniex li n-nies li huma fid-dmir ineħħuha, imma għandha titneħħa immedjatament, u qatt ma narmu dawn l-affarijiet fit-toroq. Irridu nifhmu li jekk hu importanti li titneħħa xi ħaġa perikoluża mit-toroq allura li żżomm lura mit-tfigħ ta’ xi ħaġa bħal din huwa saħansitra ta’ importanza akbar.

Tindif wara l-klieb

Tindif wara l-klieb huwa wkoll importanti ħafna. Xi nies ma jnaddfux wara l-klieb tagħhom u wkoll iħallu lill-klieb tagħhom jagħmlu l-urina quddiem djar, bibien, daħliet, ħwienet, eċċ. li joħolqu riħa tinten ħafna u inkonvenjent għar-residenti.

Biex dan jiġi evitat ħafna nies iħallu fliexken mimlijin bl-ilma b’kuluri differenti fuq il-bankini u quddiem djarhom, b’għan li l-klieb jevitaw dak il-post; dawn il-fliexken ukoll joħolqu inkonvenjenza. Għalhekk, huwa dritt tat-triq li n-nies għandhom inaddfu wara l-klieb tagħhom u jeħduhom għal mixja u biex jagħmlu l-urina f’żoni tal-ġenb u mhux quddiem ħwienet jew djar.

Tikkawżax periklu għal ħaddieħor

Matul l-istaġun tax-xita jidher b’mod regolari li n-nies isuqu b’tali mod li jitfgħu l-ilma fuq il-bankini u fuq dawk li jkunu għaddejjin bil-mixi, fuq nies li jkunu qed jistennew ix-xarabank fuq l-istejġ fosthom tfal, studenti u anzjani; u fuq vetturi oħra u xi kultant isuqu b’tant veloċità li l-ilma jintefa’ fuq il-windscreens ta’ karozzi oħra li joħloq periklu kbir għalihom. Għalhekk, huwa dritt tat-triq li, meta tkun ix-xita, il-vetturi għandhom jinsaqu b’tali mod li ma jikkawżaw ebda periklu, ħsara jew inkonvenjent lil xufiera oħra u lil min ikun miexi fuq il-bankini.

Is-sewqan bir-reqqa, l-attenzjoni u bir-rispett huwa wieħed mid-drittijiet importanti tat-toroq b’mod ġenerali u partikolarment waqt l-istaġun tax-xita filwaqt li nkunu konxji għal min ikun miexi fuq il-bankini, jew dawk li jaqsmu t-triq.

Għalhekk, għandna dejjem insuqu b’mod ġentili, u dejjem inżommu f’moħħna li huwa aħjar li tasal tard milli qatt, kif jgħidu bl-Ingliż “better late than never”. Għax ħafna drabi bniedem għandu għaġla imma huwa wkoll importanti li jieħu ħsieb lilu nnifsu u lil ħaddieħor.

Better safe than sorry!

Irrid insemmi wkoll li, binti dejjem tgħid espressjoni Ingliża li hija qasira iżda sinifikanti ħafna u tagħmel ħafna sens meta niddiskutu s-suġġett tas-sewqan, li “better safe than sorry”. Jiġifieri, huwa aktar għaqli li tkun kawt u attent milli tkun mgħaġġel u traskurat, u għalhekk tagħmel xi ħaġa li wara jiddispjaċik li tkun għamiltha. Imma ma tistax taqleb l-arloġġ, għax kull mument li jgħaddi jsir storja.

Kull sena naraw kampanja ta’ prevenzjoni kontra x-xorb u s-sewqan “Jekk se tixrob, issuqx” mill-Korp tal-Pulizija biex jipprevjenu kemm jista’ jkun inċidenti serji. Nafu li x-xorb jagħmel ħafna ħsara lis-saħħa tal-bniedem, imma, dan isir agħar meta wieħed huwa xurban u qed isuq.

Id-dmir nazzjonali

Għalhekk, nerġa’ ngħid li, bħala dmir nazzjonali, kulħadd għandu jieħu ħsieb meta jsuq. Meta wieħed huwa fit-triq, hu ma jkunx waħdu, għalhekk għandna nżommu f’moħħna dawk li huma madwarna.

Irridu nkunu konxji ħafna li nagħtu lit-toroq id-drittijiet dovuti tagħhom biex inżommu lilna nfusna u lill-oħrajn siguri u ngawdu ambjent ferm nadif, sigur u rispettuż. Meta nagħmlu dan bħala dmirna, dan isir att tajjeb, att ta’ tjubija u servizz lil ħutna l-bnedmin li jkun ippremjat bil-kbir minn Alla. Barra minn hekk, huwa mezz biex ir-ruħ tiġi salvata min-nar tal-Infern.

Id-drittijiet tat-toroq (1)

Il-bankini għandhom ikunu aċċessibbli għal kulħadd billi jiġi evitat kull imblukkar, ġbir fuq il-bankini u mixi fi gruppi. Hija prattika tajba li nimxu fuq naħa waħda tal-bankina u, jekk nimxu mal-ħbieb u l-familja, allura minflok nimxu ħdejn xulxin għandna nimxu wara xulxin.

Ilni naħseb biex nikteb fuq dan is-suġġett għal żmien mhux ħażin; madankollu, matul dawn il-ġranet tax-xita kont imqanqal ħafna biex nikteb fuq dan is-suġġett importanti ħafna, li jista’ jinstema’ stramb għal xi wħud. Madankollu, meta naħsbu fuq dan is-suġġett insibu li huwa suġġett validu ħafna u wisq importanti; huwa suġġett soċjali li jirrifletti l-attitudni, l-etikett, l-etika u l-valuri tagħna.

Il-Qaddis Profeta Muħammad, is-sliem għalih, ta gwida profonda dwar dan is-suġġett u biex jikkultiva attitudni deċenti u ta’ manjiera tajba. Hu qal:

“Oqogħdu attenti! Evitaw li toqogħdu bilqiegħda fit-toroq.” In-nies qalu, “O Profeta ta’ Alla! Ma nistgħux nevitaw li noqogħdu hemm għax għandna niddiskutu l-affarijiet tagħna hemmhekk.” Il-Profeta qal, “Jekk tinsistu li toqogħdu hemm, imbagħad agħtu lit-toroq id-drittijiet tagħhom.” In-nies staqsew, “X’inhuma d-drittijiet tat-triq?” Qal, “Tbaxxi l-ħarsa tiegħek, toqgħod lura milli tagħmel ħsara lil ħaddieħor, tirreċiproka t-tislima, u tordna dak li hu tajjeb u tipprojbixxi dak li hu ħażin.”

Virtù kbira

Din hija tabilħaqq il-gwida prinċipali fir-rigward tad-drittijiet tat-toroq, u hi tassew virtù kbira li tipprovdi faċilità u tkun konxju tal-kumdità ta’ ħaddieħor. Huwa kompla enfasizza fuq dan is-suġġett billi qal li, “Agħmlu affarijiet faċli għall-oħrajn, ipprovdu kumdità lil ħaddieħor u la tagħmlux affarijiet diffiċli jew toħolqu inkonvenjent għan-nies. Kull min iserraħ lil xi bniedem li jemmen minn xi saram ta’ din id-dinja, Alla jserrħu minn xi saram ta’ Jum il-Qawmien. U min jgħin lil xi ħadd fil-bżonn, Alla jgħinu f’din id-dinja u fl-Oħra. Min jgħatti d-dgħufija ta’ ħaddieħor, Alla jgħatti d-dgħufija tiegħu f’din id-dinja u fl-Oħra. Alla jgħin lill-qaddej li jgħin lil ħuh.”

Agħtu lit-toroq id-drittijiet tagħhom

Meta naħsbu fid-dettall dwar dan is-suġġett u nħarsu madwarna nsibu li hemm drittijiet tat-toroq li xi kultant ma nagħtux kashom. Pereżempju, li mhux biss huwa ħażin li noqogħdu fit-toroq fi gruppi, iżda wkoll li nidħqu bil-goff meta nkunu fi gruppi, nagħmlu storbju jew noħolqu inkonvenjent lil ħaddieħor.

Mhuwiex etiku li noqogħdu f’ċirku fin-nofs tat-triq jew fuq il-bankini, u dan għandu jiġi evitat. Id-dritt tat-toroq huwa li n-nies m’għandhomx jinġabru fi gruppi u jitkellmu b’leħen għoli fiż-żoni pubbliċi.

Għalhekk, jekk ikollna nimxu fi gruppi, għandna nimxu bil-kwiet, nitkellmu bil-mod, qatt ma ngħollu leħinna u qatt ma nweġġgħu s-sentimenti ta’ ħadd, anke jekk intenzjonalment jew mhux intenzjonalment.

L-etikett tal-mixi

Il-bankini għandhom ikunu aċċessibbli għal kulħadd billi jiġi evitat kull imblukkar, ġbir fuq il-bankini u mixi fi gruppi. Hija prattika tajba li nimxu fuq naħa waħda tal-bankina u, jekk nimxu mal-ħbieb u l-familja, allura minflok nimxu ħdejn xulxin għandna nimxu wara xulxin, wieħed wara l-ieħor.

Il-bankini m’għandhomx jiġu mblukkati iżda rridu nkunu konxji li nies oħra għandhom bżonn ukoll jużaw il-bankini u għalhekk li nieqfu fi gruppi u ma nħallux lil ħaddieħor jgħaddi hija mġiba ħażina ħafna.

Eżempju eċċellenti

Għandna biex nitgħallmu mit-tfal tal-iskejjel li meta jkollhom il-ħarġiet dejjem jimxu wara xulxin f’ringiela u jsegwu l-għalliema tagħhom li qed tmexxihom. Dan huwa eżempju eċċellenti għall-kbar.

Importanti wkoll li dejjem nimxu fuq il-bankini u mhux fit-toroq, u wieħed għandu joqgħod attent u jkun paċenzjuż waqt li jaqsam it-triq. Ħafna drabi jidher li n-nies jipperikolaw lilhom infushom u lil ħaddieħor billi jimxu fit-toroq u jaqsmu t-triq bil-għaġla mingħajr lanqas biss jagħmlu kuntatt mal-għajnejn tax-xufier. Fit-triq, jekk xi ħadd ikollu bżonn għajnuna fl-irkib, għandu jiġi megħjun. Tajjeb ukoll li nuru t-triq lil dawk li jitolbu direzzjonijiet.

L-etikett tal-ikel

Tiekol jew tixrob waqt li timxi fuq il-bankina, fis-suq jew waqt is-sewqan jista’ wkoll isir perikoluż, għalhekk għandu jiġi evitat u wieħed għandu joqgħod bilqiegħda sew qabel jiekol u jixrob.

Ix-xorb alkoħoliku u t-tipjip f’żoni pubbliċi li jintużaw mit-tfal, anzjani u familji, għandhom jiġu evitati kompletament u minflok jintgħażlu tali postijiet li ma joħolqu l-ebda problema għal ħaddieħor; u sabiex inżommu t-tfal tagħna ’l bogħod minn alkoħol u tipjip, anke d-duħħan tat-tipjip jagħmel ħsara. Fl-Iżlam, l-alkoħol mhuwiex permissibbli, u t-tipjip mhuwiex mixtieq; u hemm ħafna raġunijiet validi għal dan.

Jekk tara xi mġiba mhix f’waqtha f’dawk li jkunu għaddejjin, iġbed l-attenzjoni tagħhom bi mħabba u qalb tajba. Għax li tgħid it-tajjeb u tipprojbixxi l-ħażen hija t-triq ta’ min jemmen. In-nies bilqiegħda fil-ġenb tat-triq m’għandhomx jgħidu kliem oxxen fl-assemblea tagħhom imma għandhom jitkellmu b’tali mod li jiġbdu l-qalb għall-għemejjel tajbin.

Tbaxxi l-ħarsa tiegħek!

Wieħed mid-drittijiet tat-toroq huwa li nżommu ħarsiet baxxi u wieħed m’għandux jiċċassa lejn min jgħaddi, partikolarment lejn in-nisa. Imġiba tajba bħal din se tipprovdi kumdità u sigurtà lin-nisa u tkun ukoll mezz biex tinżamm is-safa tal-qlub għall-irġiel.

Hija wkoll etikett tajjeb meta nsellmu lil xulxin u nxerrdu l-fwieħa tal-paċi, l-imħabba, ir-rispett u l-fratellanza fis-soċjetà. Għalhekk, għandna nsellmu lil xulxin fit-triq għax it-tislijiet huma talb tajjeb u huma kliem imbierek u safi minn Alla li jista’ kollox. Il-Qaddis Profeta Muħammad, is-sliem għalih, qal ‘xerrdu t-tislijiet ta’ paċi fostkom’, u tana kliem vera sabiħ li meta nsellmu lil xulxin ngħidu, ‘Asslamo-Alejkum – Il-paċi u s-sliem magħkom’.

Salvation from the fiery house of sin and evil

Is-salvazzjoni mid-dar tan-nar ta’ dnub u ħażen

Meta nanalizzaw is-soċjetajiet ta’ madwarna nistgħu ngħidu bla dubju ta’ xejn li l-bniedem qed jitbiegħed minn kull reliġjon jew minn Alla li huwa funtana tat-tagħlim reliġjuż jew spiritwali. Imma għaliex qed jiġri hekk? X’inhuma l-iżvantaġġi jekk il-bniedem jitbiegħed minn Alla? Il-bniedem għandu bżonn ir-reliġjon fid-dinja moderna u tat-teknoloġija? X’toffri r-reliġjon lin-nies?

Dawn huma xi mistoqsijiet li jiġu f’moħħna meta niddiskutu dan is-suġġett, u dawn huma kollha mistoqsijiet validi u importanti, għalhekk, minflok ninjorawhom, huwa ferm importanti li nsibu t-tweġibiet tagħhom.

Għaliex il-bniedem jagħmel dnub?

Nemmen li dan l-argument kollu ġej mill-fatt uniku li ħafna nies tilfu l-fakultajiet spiritwali tagħhom u ma jibżgħux minn Alla. Meta l-bniedem ma jibżax minn Alla, u ma jemminx fil- ġudizzju divin, allura mbagħad jitbiegħed mir-reliġjon u minn Alla. Il-biżaʼ minn Alla li Jistaʼ Kollox huwa xi ħaġa li tbiegħed lill-persuna mill-ħażen u tressaqha eqreb lejn ir-reliġjon. Imma meta l-biża’ ta’ Alla joħroġ mill-qalb, allura l-bniedem ma jiddejjaqx mir-reliġjon u t-tjubija.

Bl-istess mod, meta persuna ma tirrispettax il-liġijiet soċjali u tal-pajjiż, allura tinvolvi ruħha f’attivitajiet illegali. Meta l-bniedem ma jagħtix kas jew ma jagħtix importanza lil-liġi, allura jsuq il-karozza b’veloċità kbira kemm irid, ma jimpurtah minn ħadd, anke jekk ikun hemm xi inċident ikrah; u bħala riżultat ta’ dan-nuqqas ta’ rispett xi drabi dawn in-nies jispiċċaw f’sitwazzjoni ħażina.

It-tbatija tal-ġisem u r-ruħ

Hekk kif in-nuqqas ta’ rispett lejn il-liġi joħloq problemi lill-persuna, bl-istess mod, id-distanza minn Alla li Jista’ Kollox iġġiegħel lill-persuna tbati spiritwalment. Hekk kif il-problemi dinjija jitħallew jagħmlu l-effetti fuq ġisem il-bniedem, bl-istess mod, in-nuqqasijiet spiritwali jitħallew jagħmlu l-effetti tagħhom fuq ruħ il-bniedem.

Id-dawl tas-sema

Barra minn hekk, id-dawl tas-sema, li jgħin biex tiddistingwi l-verità mill-falsità, ħareġ minn kważi kull qalb, l-ateiżmu qed jinfirex ma’ kullimkien, u, waqt li l-ilsna jsemmu l-isem ta’ Alla, il-qlub qed jikbru dejjem aktar inklinati lejn l-anjostiċiżmu. Il-materjaliżmu qed jiżdied ħafna, u l-​ispiritwalità tkompli tonqos, u tonqos biss. Ħafna nies ma jeħdux ħsieb is-safa ta’ qalbhom, l-imħabba vera għal Alla, is-simpatija għall-umanità, u morali ogħla bħall-umiltà, il-qalb tajba, il-ġustizzja u l-umiltà; u ma jkollhomx konsiderazzjoni għas-safa, il-pjetà, it-tieba u l-ġustizzja, li huma r-ruħ tar-reliġjon u l-essenza tal-eżistenza tal-bniedem.

L-għan tar-reliġjon

Ir-reliġjon hija sors ta’ gwida għall-bniedem u turi lin-nies meta jiżbaljaw; hija mezz ta’ assessjar u regolazzjoni personali, li għandna bżonn ħafna f’din id-dinja materjalista.

Ir-reliġjon tgħallem iċ-ċertezza dwar Alla, li huwa l-għajn tas-salvazzjoni, bħallikieku wieħed jista’ jarah b’għajnejh, u li permezz ta’ din iċ-ċertezza l-bniedem jibża’ minn Alla u jevita d-dnub. L-ispirtu ħażin tad-dnub ifittex li jeqred ’il-bniedem u persuna ma tistax taħrab mill-velenu fatali tad-dnub sakemm temmen b’ċertezza sħiħa f’Alla u sakemm tkun taf biċ-ċert li Alla jeżisti, li jikkastiga lil min iwettaq id-dnub u jippremja b’ferħ ta’ dejjem lill-ġusti.

Dar tan-nar tad-dnub u l-ħażen

Meta l-bniedem jitbiegħed minn Alla, jitbiegħed mill-ispiritwalità, il-moralità, il-paċi u mill-bnedmin, imma joqrob lejn il-ħażen, il-materjaliżmu u d-dnub. Nemmen li s-salvazzjoni minn din id-dar tan-nar ta’ dnub u ħażen tiddependi biss fuq l-għarfien veru u perfett ta’ Alla, għax, jekk m’hemmx Alla, il-bniedem ma jistax jastjeni mid-dnub u, jekk m’hemmx Alla, m’hemmx salvazzjoni.

Turning to God instead of materialism

Peaceful and harmonious coexistence of human beings in this multidimensional world are undoubtedly the core wish of every sane person. This has become increasingly important with the current global situation becoming more and more fragile, our societies and world becoming further unstable and world peace becoming less and less likely.

Hence, the questions of how to avoid further deterioration and how to chalk out the course and means of attaining lasting world peace naturally arise.

As a student of religion and social sciences, I truly believe that world peace can only be attained by turning towards the Creator – the Almighty God – instead of materialistic and man-made approaches and remedies. No matter what, the establishment of peace is possible only through faith and belief in the Almighty God; without God, peace in this world can neither be attained nor maintained.

It is the immortal principle that no force can provide an alternative to or act as a substitute for the inner peace a person can achieve from believing in one God.

The question may arise in the mind of the reader of this article: What is the reason for my firm belief in this statement and on what basis am I saying this with such confidence and conviction?

The answer is that, ever since the world has come into existence, God has sent countless prophets, messengers and divine scriptures to this world. This is for the moral, social, religious and spiritual well-being of mankind and every one of them has taught us this reality. As all of them are true and from God, then how can their message be doubted?

It is a firmly established principle that fallacious and misleading ideologies cannot prosper. Similarly, the above-mentioned principle has been preached by all the prophets and has been accepted by billions of people throughout history. The founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has explained this in a nutshell and states:

“We believe that for all the prophets who have come to different peoples of the world and have been accepted by millions of people in all parts of the world, and love for them and their greatness has been firmly established in any one part of the world and, further, that this state of devotion and love for them has endured the test of time, is evidence enough of their truthfulness.

“Had they not been from God, they could not have been accepted on such a wide scale by millions upon millions of hearts. God does not bestow such honour upon those whom He favours not. If an imposter aspires to occupy their position, he is soon brought to ruin.”

Without God world peace cannot be attained– Laiq Ahmed Atif

Recently, I came across a speech of the second Caliph of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community at a reception held in London in 1955. In his speech, he appealed to the world to adhere to this golden principle and urged the attendees to: “Seek strength and inspiration from God instead of entirely material sources. This is the only way to save the world from the blight of the atom and hydrogen bombs. So, pay heed to God Almighty instead of inclining towards materialism; if this principle is acted upon, then a peaceful and harmonious society can surely be established.”

Time has proven this golden principle to be correct.

The situation of the world was far more stable at the time when people were inclined more towards God, comparatively to the situation we see today.

Similarly, the inclination towards materialism was also comparatively low compared to today’s consumerist and social media driven society.

The more we have turned towards materialism, the more fragile and unstable our world has become.

When a policy is consistently failing and the illness gets worse, just as a doctor changes the prescription of the medicine that is administered to achieve the desired effect, the same approach is required to heal the wounds of our fractured world.

The best remedy to find permanent lasting peace within ourselves and in society at large is by turning towards God instead of materialism.

The concept of sin and forgiveness

Il-kunċett tad-dnub u l-maħfra

Id-dnub huwa mard spiritwali, jiġifieri meta l-bniedem jeħodha kontra t-tagħlim ta’ Alla, dan huwa d-dnub. Fil-fatt, id-dnub huwa n-nuqqas ta’ tjubija, kif id-dlam huwa n-nuqqas ta’ dawl.

Huwa minnu li l-bniedem mhux perfett u jagħmel l-iżbalji f’ħajtu. Xi drabi, meta jiżdied il-piż tal-ħażen u tad-dnub, il-bniedem jaħseb li issa se jingħalqu għalih il-bibien kollha tal-maħfra. Bniedem bħal dan jaħseb li m’hemm l-ebda mod għall-fejqan spiritwali, u m’hemmx għażla għat-trasformazzjoni tiegħu.

Alla ddikjara b’leħen qawwi u ċar lil dawn in-nies li Sidhom huwa Ħanin u l-Aktar li Jaħfer. Il-Koran Imqaddes jitfa’ dawl b’mod komprensiv fuq dan is-suġġett u jiftaħ il-bibien wesgħin lejn it-trasformazzjoni spiritwali u l-fejqan tar-ruħ, permezz tal-indiema u t-tfittxija tal-maħfra.

Taqtax qalbek

Alla jgħid fil-Koran Imqaddes li, “Issirx bla tama mill-ħniena ta’ Alla; għax ħadd ma jitlef tama mill-ħniena ta’ Alla ħlief dak li ma jemminx.” (12:88)

F’vers ieħor Alla jgħid lill-bnedmin Tiegħu biex ma jaqtgħux qalbhom għax dejjem jistgħu jsibu l-ħniena mingħand Sidhom u jgħid: “Għid, ‘O qaddejja Tiegħi li wettqu eċċessi kontra ruħhom stess! Taqtgħux qalbkom mill-ħniena ta’ Alla, żgur Alla jaħfer id-dnubiet kollha. Tassew Hu l-Aktar li Jaħfer u l-Ħanin.’” (39:54)

Il-mard u r-rimedju

Dan il-kunċett dwar il-maħfra ġie elaborat aktar mill-Qaddis Profeta Muħammad, is-sliem għalih, li qal: “Għal kull marda hemm rimedju, ħlief il-mewt.”

Dan ifisser li, barra mill-mewt, hemm rimedju għal kull marda, kemm fiżiku kif ukoll spiritwali. Għax dan huwa l-fatt li bniedem li jitwieled, żgur li xi darba jmut, kif Alla jgħid fil-Koran Imqaddes li, “Kulħadd għandu jbati l-mewt” (3:186). Għax il-mewt hija realtà u m’hemmx ħarba minnha. Imma d-dnub huwa mard spiritwali kif il-bniedem ibati minn mard fiżiku.

Il-mard fiżiku u spiritwali

Kif il-mard fiżiku jista’ jitfejjaq bl-istess mod il-mard spiritwali huwa wkoll suġġett  għall-fejqan, jekk persuna ddur tassew u bil-qalb kollha lejn Sidha biex tfittex il-ħniena u l-maħfra Tiegħu. Jekk bniedem verament jixtieq u jistinka għall-maħfra, żgur se jsib il-bibien kollha tal-maħfra miftuħa beraħ.

Persuna midinba ħafna u l-maħfra

Darba l-Qaddis Profeta Muħammad, is-sliem għalih, kien qed jitkellem dwar il-maħfra u  qal: “Darba waħda kien hemm raġel li kien dineb ħafna kontra tiegħu nnifsu. Meta kien wasal biex imut, qal lil uliedu: ‘Meta mmut, aħarquni u isħquni sa ma ġismi jsir trab. Imbagħad xerrduni fir-riħ, fil-baħar. Naħlef fuq Alla li jekk Alla jaqbadni, żgur jagħtini kastig li ma ta lil ħadd ieħor qabel.’”

Imbagħad il-Qaddis Profeta Muħammad, is-sliem għalih, qal li wlied dak ir-raġel għamlu kif qalilhom, iżda Alla ordna lill-art: “Rodd lura (il-fdalijiet kollha ta’ ġisem dak ir-raġel) li ħadt!”

B’hekk dak ir-raġel inġieb quddiem Alla. Alla staqsieh: “X’ġiegħlek tagħmel hekk? Għaliex għamilt hekk?” Wieġbu: “Il-biża’ kbir minnek ġagħalni nagħmel hekk, ja Mulej, għax għamilt ħafna ħażen f’ħajti u kont persuna midinba ħafna, għalhekk, kont nibża’ minnek li se tagħtini l-kastig u ma stajtx niffaċċjak, għalhekk għedt lil uliedi biex jaħarquni sabiex xejn ma jibqa’ minni.” Meta Alla sema’ dan li dak il-bniedem kien skuża ruħu għal dak kollu li għamel, Alla li tassew Hu l-Aktar li Jaħfer u l-Ħanin, ħafirlu.

Dan juri biċ-ċar li jekk verament bniedem jixtieq il-maħfra u tassew jibża’ minn Alla,  żgur se jsib il-maħfra u l-ħniena.

Muslim Community visits St Vincent De Paul

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community visits the Elderly at St Vincent De Paul

In these festive days, when many people are occupied with buying clothes and gifts for them and their families, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Malta thought of the elderly to extend festive greetings and to present gift hampers to the residents of Saint Vincent De Paul, a long-term care facility. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, who always believes in their motto “Love for All, Hatred for None”, visited the Saint Vincent De Paul care facility and they met with the residents and presented them with festive hampers and wished them happy holidays.

The staff members welcomed the gesture of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and briefed them about the services that are being offered to the residents.

On this occasion, Imam Laiq Ahmed Atif, President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Malta, thanked for this opportunity and said that, the elderly persons are an integral part of society, they are our parents, and therefore it is important to take care of them, as they took care of us when we were children. They have always been an effective support for us in moments of challenges. We must take a good care of them and be always grateful to them, for everything that they have given us. The Holy Prophet Muhammad, peace be on him, said that: “One who is not grateful to people is not grateful to God either.”

In addition, it is extremely important that we regularly meet our parents and elderly, spend time with them, say kind and gentle words to them and show them love and compassion. A visit of love and solidarity

L-IMAM FI ŻJARA FIĊ-ĊENTRU TERAPEWTIKU TA’ SAN BLAS

Imam Laiq Ahmed Atif u l-Komunità Ahmadiyya Musulmana għal darb’oħra wrew ġest ta’ solidarjetà u mħabba lejn residenti li bħalissa qed jagħmlu programm ta’ riabilitazzjoni fi ħdan iċ-ċentri terapewtiċi ta’ Caritas Malta.

Is-Sibt 16 ta’ Diċembru 2023, Imam Atif flimkien ma’ rappreżentanti tal-Komunità Ahmadiyya Musulmana, qattgħu sagħtejn mar-residenti tal-Male shelter, kif ukoll fil-programm terapewtiku għall-irġiel u għan-nisa f’San Blas. Il-Komunità Ahmadiyya Musulmana qassmu rigali f’dawn il-ġranet ta’ festi lil kull resident. Twasslu wkoll rigali għall-programm terapewtiku tal-Prison Inmates Programme, Dar Charles Miceli u għaċ-ċentru terapewtiku tal-Ibwar.

Matul din iż-żjara, ir-residenti tkellmu dwar l-esperjenzi tagħhom fil-vjaġġ ta’ rkupru u l-Imam Atif kompla bi kliem inkorraġġanti u ta’ tama għalihom. Faħħar l-isforz kollu tagħhom f’dan iż-żmien li qed jagħmlu u inkorraġġihom biex ma jitilfux it-tama u qatt m’għandhom jaqtgħu qalbhom, u jagħmlu iktar sforz jekk isibu din il-ġirja ftit diffiċli. Saħaq li xejn mhu impossibbli meta jkun hemm rieda u determinazzjoni qawwija. Dawn l-isfidi jsiru aktar faċli u fattibbli bit-talb u r-relazzjoni mill-qrib ma’ Alla l-Ħanin.

Il-koordinatur ta’ servizzi ta’ riabilitazzjoni fi ħdan Caritas Malta, is-Sur Ian Diacono, akkumpanja lil Iman Atif matul din iż-żjara. Esprima l-apprezzament tiegħu għall-ħbiberija li żviluppat bejn il-Komunità Ahmadiyya Musulmana u Caritas Malta u wkoll irrikonoxxa s-sapport li din il-Komunità tagħti lil Caritas matul is-sena. B’apprezzament irrikonoxxa li din hija s-seba’ sena ta’ żjara tal-Komunità Ahmadiyya Musulmana.

Ir-residenti wkoll urew l-apprezzament tagħhom għar-rigali li rċevew u anki esprimew kemm tfisser għalihom żjara bħal din, u messaġġ ta’ kuraġġ, imħabba u solidarjetà.

Solidarity and Friendship

Imam Laiq Ahmed Atif u l-Komunità Ahmadiyya Musulmana li dejjem jemmnu, jippromwovu u jipprattikaw il-motto tagħhom, “Imħabba għal Kulħadd, Mibegħda għal Ħadd”, għal darb’oħra wrew ġest ta’ solidarjetà u mħabba lejn residenti li bħalissa qed jagħmlu programm ta’ riabilitazzjoni fi ħdan iċ-ċentru ta’ Servizzi ta’ Riabilitazzjoni Residenzjali f’ħdan ‘Il-Komunità Santa Marija – Sedqa Malta’.

Id-Direttur tal-Operazzjonijiet tal-Aġenzija Sedqa, Sur Charles Scerri, spejga fid-dettal is-servizzi li toffri l-Fondazzjoni ​(FSWS​), huwa, esprima l-apprezzament tiegħu għall-ħbiberija li żviluppat bejn il-Komunità Ahmadiyya Musulmana u l-FSWS għal dawn l-aħħar snin.

Imam Atif flimkien ma’ rappreżentanti tal-Komunità Ahmadiyya Musulmana, qattgħu ħin mar-residenti tal-Komunità Santa Marija, f’Ħal-Luqa. Il-Komunità Ahmadiyya Musulmana qassmu rigali f’dawn il-ġranet ta’ festi lil kull resident. Inġibu rigali wkoll għal ċentri u djar oħrajn f’ħdan ‘Sedqa’.

Love for All, Hatred for None

IMĦABBA GĦAL KULĦADD

“Imħabba għal Kulħadd, Mibegħda għal Ħadd” huwa motto sempliċi iżda profond, razzjonali u rivoluzzjonarju tal-Komunità Ahmadiyya Musulmana. Dan il-prinċipju sempliċi iżda komprensiv huwa fl-essenza tiegħu t-triq għall-paċi, l-għaqda u l-fratellanza universali. Fit-tifsira vera tiegħu dan il-motto jfassal il-modi għall-paċi dinjija, li l-umanità għandha ħafna bżonn. Dan il-prinċipju uniku jipprovdi r-rimedji kollha għall-mard tad-dinja miksura tagħna, u jipprovdi ilma pur u safi biex jaqta’ l-għatx għall-paċi, trankwillità u serenità.

L-imħabba hija l-antidotu tal-mibegħda. Dan l-antidotu huwa meħtieġ f’doża għolja ħafna biex jinqerdu l-mibegħda, il-malizzja, il-preġudizzju u l-animożità profonda mis-soċjetajiet tagħna u tabilħaqq mid-dinja kollha.

Il-fergħa taż-żebbuġ

Naħseb hija sejħa tas-siegħa li nbiddlu kull tip ta’ tgergir u malizzja bl-imħabba u l-kompassjoni. Naħseb li dan mhux importanti biss, anzi, sar kruċjali fil-kuntest tas-sitwazzjoni preżenti tad-dinja. Hija r-responsabbiltà kollettiva tagħna li naħdmu id f’id u flimkien noħolqu atmosfera ta’ mħabba u għożża, u aħna nwasslu messaġġ ta’ mħabba u sliem lil dawk kollha ta’ madwarna, u nestendu l-fergħa taż-żebbuġ bħala ġest ta’ paċi u ħbiberija lil kulħadd, mingħajr ebda distinzjoni.

Mezz ġenwin għall-paċi

Is-servizz tal-umanità huwa mezz mill-isbaħ biex nistabbilixxu relazzjonijiet ta’ ħbiberija fi ħdan iċ-ċrieki u s-soċjetajiet tagħna. Għalhekk, għandna nservu l-umanità ħalli niksbu l-paċi ġenwina. Ħafna drabi naraw li n-nies jagħmlu ħafna karità matul perjodu partikolari tas-sena, imma, għandna naraw jekk hijiex biżżejjed jew le.

Naħseb is-servizz għall-umanità mhux limitat għal żmien partikolari, iżda għajnuna bħal din għandha tingħata fuq bażi regolari. Il-Fundatur tal-Komunità Ahmadiyya Musulmana spjega dan b’mod tajjeb ħafna u qal li għandna biex nanalizzaw lilna nfusna u naraw sa liema punt aħna għenna lil ħutna u sa liema punt urejna l-imħabba u l-mogħdrija lejn il-proxxmu.

Bla dubju ta’ xejn, is-simpatija lejn l-oħrajn hija responsabbiltà u obbligu enormi li tiżen u tgħodd ħafna quddiem Alla. Is-simpatija vera titlob li nipprovdu l-għajnuna u sservi lill-umanità mingħajr ebda diskriminazzjoni, hekk kif aħna nuru rispett u kompassjoni ma’ ħutna stess.

It-tifsira wiesgħa tal-karità

L-Iżlam dejjem jordna t-tjubija u s-simpatija għal kulħadd, mhux darba f’sena, iżda matul is-sena kollha, għax il-bżonnijiet bażiċi mhumiex limitati fl-aħħar tas-sena biss. Għalhekk, il-Qaddis Profeta Muħammad, is-sliem għalih, qal: “Il-karità hija obbligatorja fuq kull riġel uman kull jum li fih titla’ x-xemx.” Dan ifisser li aħna fid-​dmir li nuru mogħdrija u ngħinu lill-​oħrajn b’mod regolari.

Barra minn hekk huwa wkoll spjega li l-karità għandha tifsira wiesgħa ħafna u qal: “Li ġġib rikonċiljazzjoni bejn żewġ kontestanti hija karità. Li tgħin lil xi ħadd itellaʼ l-annimal tiegħu jew biex jgħabbi l-affarijiet tiegħu fuqu hija karità. Kelma tajba hija karità. Kull pass meħud lejn il-post tal-qima għat-talb huwa karità. Li tneħħi xi ħaġa mit-triq li tikkawża inkonvenjent, ħsara jew problema għall-oħrajn hija wkoll karità.”

Ħobb lil għajrek

Kif jgħidu bl-Ingliż ‘Charity begins at home’, allura għandna biex inġibu ruħna tajjeb mal-membri tal-familja, mal-qraba u mal-ġirien tagħna. Il-ġirien dejjem jixirqilhom it-tjubija u t-trattament ġentili tagħna. Il-Qaddis Profeta Muħammad kien dejjem jenfasizza ħafna fuq dan il-punt u qal:

“Dak mhux se jidħol fil-​Ġenna li l-​proxxmu u l-ġirien tiegħu ma jkunx sigur mill-​ħażen tiegħu.” Huwa qal ukoll li, “Ma tidħolx fil-​Ġenna jekk ma temminx, u ma temminx tassew jekk ma tħobbux lil xulxin. Ngħidilkom xi ħaġa li biha tħobbu lil xulxin? Immoltiplikaw it-tislima tal-paċi bejnietkom.”

Kemm huwa importanti li nħobbu lil xulxin u nipprattikaw dan il-prinċipju “Imħabba għal Kulħadd, Mibegħda għal Ħadd”, fil-ħajja tagħna ta’ kuljum sabiex inkunu fidili ġenwini li mhux biss ingawdu l-ġenna dinjija, iżda wkoll il-Ġenna dejjiema. F’dawn iż-żminijiet ejjew nestendu lil kulħadd dan il-messaġġ bis-sinċerità kollha u nxerrdu dan il-prinċipju ma’ kullimkien.

Il-festi t-tajba! B’dan il-messaġġ ta’ “Imħabba għal Kulħadd, Mibegħda għal Ħadd”, jien minn qalbi nsellmilkom u nawguralkom il-festi t-tajba.

Caring for others during the festive season

Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Malta presented festive delights to Hon. Ivan Bartolo Member of Parliament from Mosta to be distributed in the needy persons in the locality on Sunday 10 December 2023. In his message, the Hon. Bartolo wrote that: “Grazzi lil komunità Ahmadiyya Musulmana, li żaruna u għaddewlna kejkijiet, biex f’dawn iż-żminijiet ngħadduhom lill-familji li nafu bihom, u nuruhom li hemm min jaħseb fihom u jieħu ħsiebhom.”

In war, no one wins

FIL-GWERRA MA JIRBAĦ ĦADD

“Kull min joqtol bniedem… qisu qatel l-umanità kollha; u min isalva l-ħajja, qisu salva lill-bnedmin kollha.” (Il-Koran, 5:33)

Dawn l-aħħar ġimgħat kienu verament diffiċli minħabba s-sitwazzjoni kerha ħafna fil-Palestina minħabba l-gwerra bejn l-Iżrael u l-Ħamas. Kif jgħidu, fil-gwerra ma jirbaħ ħadd u kulħadd jitlef fil-gwerra. Għal darb’oħra dan reġa’ ġie ppruvat veru. Rajna filmati u ritratti tal-waħx, il-biki, il-qtil, il-ħsara u qerda ta’ bini pubbliku u privat, inklużi sptarijiet. Meta nara dan kollu, nistaqsi, xi nkiseb permezz ta’ din il-gwerra? L-aktar tweġiba sempliċi hija ‘xejn ħlief telf kbir’.

Inqatlu eluf ta’ nies innoċenti fosthom tfal, nisa u anzjani, li jfisser eluf ta’ djar u familji ġew meqruda; it-tfal saru orfni, in-nisa saru romol, u l-ommijiet tħallew mingħajr uliedhom.

Sfortunatament, il-poteri ewlenin, filwaqt li jesprimu simpatija, ma jridux jamministraw il-ġustizzja u mhumiex serji dwar din il-kwistjoni. Huma jemmnu li l-gwerra se tibqa’ konfinata għal dawk iż-żoni, iżda mhumiex konxji. Anke l-għorrief fosthom bdew jgħidu li l-gwerra mhux se tkun limitata għal dawk ir-reġjuni iżda se tinfirex aktar u tilħaq pajjiżi tagħhom stess. Il-pajjiżi kbar m’għandhomx jinsew li meta l-fjammi tan-nar jinfirxu ma jeħilsu lil ħadd; u ma jagħmlu ebda distinzjoni bejn kbar jew żgħar, u bejn sinjuri jew foqra.

Għalhekk, hija t-talba umli tiegħi li, minflok aktar firda u aktar eskalazzjoni tal-mibegħda, huwa aktar għaqli li tinżera’ ż-żerriegħa tal-imħabba, ir-rikonċiljazzjoni u l-paċi. Għax meta hemm paċi, kulħadd igawdi, u meta hemm gwerra kulħadd jitlef. Meta l-bniedem ma jiflaħx ma jista’ jagħmel xejn, u ma jistax igawdi anke jekk ikun hemm l-ikel bnin quddiemu; bl-istess mod, meta hemm kunflitt fis-soċjetà, ħadd ma jista’ jistrieħ u jgawdi.

Għalhekk, il-Qaddis Profeta Muħammad, is-sliem għalih, qal li ma tixtiqux gwerra jew li tiltaqgħu mal-għadu fil-battalja, iżda, dejjem tistinkaw għall-paċi, il-prosperità u t-trankwillità. Huwa għallimna li biex tiżviluppa l-paċi u tneħħi l-mibegħda mill-qalb, persuna trid tgħin kemm lill-oppressur kif ukoll lil min hu oppressat. Huwa qal li, “Għin lil ħuk kemm jekk hu l-oppressur kif ukoll jekk hu l-oppressat.” Meta semgħu dan, sħabu qalu li, “Nifhmu li aħna għandna ngħinuh meta hu l-parti aggravata, imma kif għandna ngħinu meta hu jkun qed iwettaq il-ħażin?” Hu qal: “Żommulu idu,” jiġifieri li tista’ tgħin lill-oppressur billi twaqqaf milli jaġixxi b’mod krudili sabiex ikun jista’ jiġi salvat mir-Rabja ta’ Alla.

Illum huwa importanti li ngħinu liż-żewġ naħat, il-vittmi u l-ħatja. Nistgħu ngħinu lill-vittmi billi nuru solidarjetà u noffrulhom għajnuna umanitarja, u nistgħu ngħinu l-ħatja billi ‘nżommu jdejhom’.

The Morality is long dead!

Il-Moralità ilha Mejta!

Ftit ta’ żmien ilu, smajt politiku ta’ xi pajjiż, meta l-ġurnalisti staqsewh mistoqsija dwar kwistjoni etika partikolari, huwa qal li: “Il-moralità ilha mejta.” Bla dubju din id-dikjarazzjoni hija ta’ ħafna wġigħ biex tismagħha, iżda turi wkoll kemm din il-problema hija mdaħħla fil-fond fis-soċjetajiet tal-lum.

Illum il-ġurnata, ħafna drabi l-ġenituri u n-nanniet jinstabu jitkellmu dwar il-fatt li l-morali umani qed jisparixxu malajr mis-soċjetajiet tagħna. Bl-istess mod, ħafna ġenituri jidhru mħassba dwar il-valuri morali tat-tfal tagħhom u jsemmu wkoll li fil-passat kien hemm wisq enfasi fuq il-valuri morali, imma llum il-ġurnata t-tfal u ż-żgħażagħ ma jagħtux kas lill-moralità kif suppost. Huwa wkoll fatt li llum il-ħajja saret wisq okkupata, mgħaġġla u għalja, għalhekk, iż-żgħażagħ jiffokaw iktar fuq l-affarijiet li huma iktar relatati mal-karriera tagħhom.

L-edukazzjoni u t-taħriġ

Naraw li, illum, l-edukazzjoni saret komuni ħafna iżda t-taħriġ huwa nieqes. Naraw ix-xewqa enormi fiż-żgħażagħ tagħna li jiksbu edukazzjoni mill-aqwa, iżda meta niġu għat-taħriġ insibu li hemm ħafna lok u bżonn għal titjib.

Naħseb li l-edukazzjoni mhix kompluta mingħajr it-taħriġ neċessarju. Darba qrajt il-qawl ta’ filosofu kbir li jitfa’ dawl biżżejjed fuq dan is-suġġett; hu jikteb li: “Nazzjon li jilħaq l-għoli tat-tkabbir u l-iżvilupp fid-dinja huwa dejjem kortiż ħafna u jippossjedi valuri u morali tajba, waqt li nazzjon b’valuri u morali ħżiena dejjem jitlef u jfalli.”

Għalhekk, filwaqt li l-ġenituri u l-istituzzjonijiet edukattivi għandhom jenfasizzaw fuq il-ħtieġa tal-edukazzjoni, għandhom ukoll iżommu għajnejhom mill-qrib fuq it-taħriġ meħtieġ taż-żgħażagħ.

L-għalliema u l-ġenituri

L-edukazzjoni mingħajr taħriġ hija bħal meta tilbes ħwejjeġ ġodda iżda ma tistax tadotta ideat ġodda. Xtrajt karozza, imma ma tgħallimt issuqha mingħand l-ebda għalliem.

Bla dubju, hija r-responsabbiltà tal-istituzzjonijiet edukattivi li jedukaw lit-tfal kif ukoll iħarrġuhom biex jagħmlu l-edukazzjoni tagħhom effettiva fil-veru sens u jġibu innovazzjoni fil-ħsieb tagħhom, iżda fl-istess ħin, din ir-responsabbiltà hija r-responsabbiltà tal-ġenituri wkoll li jagħmlu ġid lil uliedhom mill-esperjenzi u l-osservazzjonijiet tagħhom dwar il-ħajja sabiex jiksbu suċċess f’kull qasam tal-ħajja.

Tħallix il-moralità tmut

Il-ġenituri għandhom ukoll jagħmlu sforzi żejda biex jarrikkixxu lil uliedhom bil-valuri morali u jgħallmuhom l-ogħla standards ta’ moralità. Sabiex huma jsiru assi ta’ veru għall-pajjiż u qatt ma jħallu l-moralità tmut.

Gaza Charity Event

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Malta actively contributed to the ‘Gaza Charity Event’ held on 25 and 26 November 2023, to raise funds for the Palestinian children who are suffering because of the war. This charity bazaar was organised by ACIS Malta, together with other NGOs and Local Councils.

War creates only more war

IL-GWERRA TOĦLOQ AKTAR GWERER!

Meta naqraw dwar l-istorja umana nsibu li seħħew ħafna gwerer u kunflitti, li bla dubju ta’ xejn kienu ta’ ħsara kbira lis-soċjetà, f’kull manjiera u aspett. Il-gwerer dejjem irriżultaw fi ħsara kollaterali u infrastrutturali, inkluż bini pubbliku, u fuq kollox, ma kienu xejn ħlief mezz ta’ qerda u qtil ta’ għadd ta’ ħajjiet innoċenti, fosthom tfal, nisa u anzjani.

Imma sfortunatament ħafna, wara dawn il-ħsarat kollha, u wara gwerer bla għadd, il-bniedem ma jitgħallimx il-lezzjoni u jidher li l-umanità kollha tinsa l-imgħoddi kollu kemm hu.

Live and let live

Min-naħa l-oħra dan juri wkoll li l-bnedmin fallew fit-tfittxija tagħhom għall-paċi, jew ma kinux għaqlin biżżejjed biex jikkoreġu l-iżbalji tagħhom u jfasslu pjan strutturali għall-paċi u l-prosperità dejjiema. Jew, l-interessi personali, l-egoiżmu, l-arroganza u l-kburija nazzjonali xekkluhom milli jikkultivaw il-kultura tal-ħbiberija u “live and let live”.

Darbtejn fl-istess toqba

Għax huwa impossibbli li n-nies għaqlin u razzjonali jirrepetu l-iżbalji tagħhom, ma jistax ikun. Il-Qaddis Profeta Muħammad, is-sliem għalih, qal li, “Min jemmen qatt ma jingidem darbtejn fl-istess toqba.”

Dan id-diskors għandu tifsira vasta u profonda. It-tifsira sempliċi ta’ dan id-diskors huwa li l-fidili u n-nies għaqlin u razzjonali dejjem jibqgħu attenti u fuq ix-xwiek.

Permezz ta’ din l-osservazzjoni, il-Qaddis Profeta Muħammad, is-sliem għalih, jiggwidana biex dejjem nibqgħu attenti ħafna u ma niġux imqarrqa darbtejn mill-istess sitwazzjoni, persuna jew l-istess affari, u li nibbenefikaw minn kull esperjenza morra, biex b’hekk inkomplu nsaħħu lilna nfusna u niftħu għalina nfusna aktar toroq ta’ progress u suċċess, waħda wara l-oħra.

Dan id-diskors profond iservi bħala torċa ta’ gwida, u twissija kontra li wieħed jirrepeti l-iżball tiegħu. Fil-fatt, mhux se jkun konformi mal-għarfien ta’ fidil għaqli jekk jingidem darbtejn fl-istess toqba, jekk ifalli mill-istess esperjenza.

Għalhekk huwa importanti li wieħed jgħix b’għajnejh miftuħin f’din id-dinja u biex jagħmel kull waqgħa mezz ta’ tisħiħ ulterjuri ta’ saqajh u biex jaqbeż ’il quddiem wara kull żliq u jkompli jimxi ’l quddiem u ’l quddiem.

Il-bniedem ma jitgħallimx

L-esperjenza turi, u jien b’diqa u bil-qalb tqila rrid nammetti, li l-bniedem ma jitgħallimx. Jaħasra! Anke fid-dinja moderna, li nsejħulha dinja ċivilizzata, naraw gwerer u kunflitti kważi kullimkien.

Nafu u esperjenzajna mijiet ta’ darba, darba wara l-oħra, li gwerra mhi xejn ħlief ħsara u qerda, u nafu l-Konsegwenzi Qerrieda tagħha, imma nibqgħu nirrepetu l-istess żbalji. Assolutament mhuwiex approċ u ħsieb korrett, deċenti, san, razzjonali u għaqli. Bla dubju ta’ xejn. Ma jagħmilx sens, ikun xi jkun.

Fl-aħħar għoxrin sena saru ħafna gwerer u kunflitti, ma nafx minn fejn nibda u fejn nispiċċa din il-lista tant twila, imma għall-argument irrid insemmi ftit fosthom: il-gwerra fl-Afganistan, il-Libja, is-Sirja, is-Sudan, l-Ukrajna u żewġ gwerer li ma jispiċċaw qatt bejn l-Indja u l-Kashmir, u l-Iżrael u l-Palestina.

Dejjem “iż-żgħar” li jbatu

Nafu li l-gwerra fl-Ukrajna għamlet ħafna ħsara lid-dinja; l-inflazzjoni żdiedet ħafna, il-prezzijiet tal-fjuwil u tal-ikel żdiedu eċċezzjonalment. Dan ifisser li l-umanità u n-nies komuni li f’għajn id-dinja huma “żgħar” batew meta anke ma kienx tort tagħhom. Dawk biss, li nsejħulhom “kbar”, ibbenefikaw minn din il-gwerra billi biegħu l-armi u l-artillerija tagħhom, u b’hekk qalgħu biljuni u biljuni.

Issa, nirrepetu l-istess żball fil-kunflitt bejn il-Ħamas u l-Iżrael. Hemm għadd ta’ pajjiżi mill-Punent li qed jibagħtu t-tankijiet tal-gwerra tagħhom lill-Iżrael. L-aħjar mod huwa li l-mexxejja tal-pajjiżi kbar li għandhom poter u qawwa jgħinu liż-żewġ naħat biex jersqu għal ftehim, rikonċilazzjoni u paċi, imma sfortunatament, minflok id-djalogu u l-ftehim, huma qed jibagħtu t-tankijiet tal-gwerra. Qisna qed nibagħtu t-taqsima tat-tifi tan-nar iqabbdu n-nirien kullimkien. Minflok jitfgħu l-ilma fuq in-nar, qed jitfgħu l-fjuwil fuq in-nar. Minflok jitfu l-fjammi tan-nar bl-ilma, qed jippruvaw jikkonvertu dawn il-fjammi fi sħab skur u ħoxnin ta’ qerda.

Il-fjammi tan-nar

Il-pajjiżi sinjuri, żviluppati u b’saħħithom, li jaħsbu li għandhom kollox u kulħadd qed jibża’ minnhom, m’għandhomx jinsew li meta l-fjammi tan-nar jinfirxu ma jeħilsu lil ħadd; u ma jagħmlu ebda distinzjoni bejn kbar jew żgħar, u bejn sinjuri jew foqra.

Għalhekk, hija t-talba umli tiegħi li kull wieħed u waħda minna għandu jaqdi r-rwol tiegħu b’kull mod possibbli. Anke jekk xi ħadd ma jista’ jagħmel xejn, għall-inqas ejjew ningħaqdu fit-talb u ejjew nitbaxxew fuq l-għatba ta’ Alla Dejjem Ħanin u Ġentili għall-paċi u s-saħħa għall-umanità kollha.

Nappella b’sinċerità kollha lill-mexxejja dinjin biex joqogħdu madwar il-mejda biex isibu soluzzjonijiet ta’ paċi fit-tul għal kull pajjiż u għal kull nazzjon biex kulħadd jista’ jgħix fil-paċi u l-prosperità. Irridu nieħdu deċiżjonijiet kuraġġużi imma għaqlin qabel ma jkun tard wisq, u ma ninsew qatt din il-verità li l-gwerra ħafna drabi toħloq aktar kunflitti u aktar gwerer.
