Ahmadiyya Malta Organised a Successful Peace Symposium

SPEAKERS at the Peace Symposium 2014

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Malta organised annual “Peace Symposium” on 28th February, at the Grand Hotel Excelsior, Floriana. In this gathering Hon. Justyne Caruana MP, Hon. Mario De Marco MP, Mons Mario Grech and Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad Ayaz, delivered their talks about the theme “Contemporary World Crisis and the Way to Peace.” 

All the distinguished speakers spoke about the current critical situation of world peace and highlighted the need of establishing justice, equality, and education and emphasized on the need of mutual respect and dialogue between all the countries, people and religions. The distinguished panel agreed to the point that dialogue and negotiations are the best solutions in solving national and international conflicts. 

Hon. Justyne Caruana - MPHonourable Dr Justyne Caruana said that for the establishment of peace there is a critical need to eradicate poverty and to provide food and clean water to all the people. She also emphasized on promotion of tolerance and mutual respect. 

Hon. Mario De Marco - MPHonourable Dr. Mario De Marco said that ‘I welcomed with open arms the invitation to address this gathering. We can never talk enough about peace. But, no word uttered in the pursuit of peaceful solution is a wasted word.’ 

Mons. Mario Grech - Bishop of GozoMons. Mario Grech congratulated the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community for organising such a wonderful event on an important subject and said that Jesus said that “Blessed are the peacemakers.” 

Dr Iftikhar Ahmad Ayaz OBEDr. Iftikhar Ahmad Ayaz said that: “To establish true peace, we must also understand the spirit of true justice.  How can we establish true justice and what is its spirit?”

In the Holy Quran God Almighty says:

“O Ye who believe! Be steadfast in the cause of Allah, bearing witness in equity; and let not a people’s enmity incite you to act otherwise than with justice.  Be always just, that is nearer to righteousness.  And fear Allah.  Surely, Allah is aware of what you do.”  (Ch 5: V9) 

Laiq Ahmed Atif, president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat, Malta, welcomed the guests to the conference and said that ‘the Peace Symposium is an annual event which brings together well-known and esteemed scholars from the world’s major religions, politicians and dignitaries to speak on a common topic from the point of view of their respective religious traditions and political affiliations. 

For last many years, the peace symposium has served as an invaluable forum for different religious communities and political parties to gather in the spirit of tolerance, peace, cooperation, respect and understanding. 

It serves the noble cause of education regarding interesting and relevant topics by providing a platform where major religions and political parties can pool their collective wisdom, teachings and ideas.
