President George Vella and his wife were the special guests of the Muslim Community in Malta for the meal of Iftar that is taken during Ramadan.
On the Ramadan theme of peace and religious fasting, the President, with a number of other distinguished guests, discussed the importance of religious fasting and the Iftar meal which, at the end of the day brings together the community for a meal.
President Vella said there is a need for greater harmony and dialogue between societies of differing beliefs while he praised Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat for this inclusive initiative.
The event took place to create greater awareness of traditional Islamic beliefs.
Representatives of a number of different religions were also present.
